Essence explores the image of a woman’s back as a visual representation of her inner strength and beauty. Each piece began with a photo shoot of a woman in my life. I then interviewed the model and record her responses to questions such as: “When do you feel most beautiful?”, “What makes you most glad to be you?”, “What is something you wish people knew about you that usually takes them awhile to find out?”, and “Where/when do you feel most yourself?” Her answers were synthesized into one statement displayed with alongside the art.
